The Common Travel Area predates the EU and survived Brexit: British and Irish citizens can live and work in each other\u2019s countries without immigration permission. That part is settled law. Here is the paperwork that does still exist.
The Common Travel Area
British citizens can live and work in Ireland without any immigration permission - no sponsorship, no points, no application. Note the wording: BRITISH CITIZENS. Other UK residents and visa holders are outside the CTA and need their own route.
A PPS number, then tax
You will need a Personal Public Service (PPS) number to work and get paid properly, and Irish tax is its own system - PAYE plus USC, in euro. Day one paperwork, not a barrier.
Regulated works still regulate
No visa does not mean no rules on the tools: gas work requires Registered Gas Installer (RGI) status, and certain electrical works require Safe Electric registration. Check what your ticket covers BEFORE quoting for work.
The Common Travel Area arrangements are documented by both governments (gov.uk and gov.ie). Registration schemes for regulated trades are run by the Irish bodies named above - their registers are public.
