SMT Machine Operator Location: Newbury Salary: 16.20 per hour, 31,590 Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm Overview We are seeking an experienced SMT Machine Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will have a solid background in electronic assembly and hands-on experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT). You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT equipment while ensuring high-quality production standards are consistently achieved. Key Responsibilities • Loading feeders and preparing components for production • PCB setup, including loading and handling boards for production processes • Paste stencil setup and operation, including: • Creating new programmes • Loading stencils • Setting up existing programmes • Running production processes • Cleaning stencils and associated tooling • SMT machine setup and operation, including: • Programme creation • Job setup and changeovers • Running production processes • Stripping down machines and returning parts to kits in the correct order • Operating reflow ovens for the production of assembled PCBs Requirements • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar SMT role • Strong knowledge of PCB-level SMT component assembly • Basic understanding of PCB technologies • Good knowledge of SMT assembly processes • Ability to read and follow work/build instructions accurately • Experience with IPC-A-610 standards (desirable) • Understanding of Moisture Sensitivity Levels (MSL) • Clear and effective verbal communication skills • Good IT literacy, including experience with machine control and programming software, and the ability to learn new systems Benefits • Company pension scheme • Life insurance • Free flu vaccinations • Free on-site parking
