Multiskilled Bricklayer - Responsive Repairs • Hourly Rate: 20.00 - 23.00 • Location: Bury • Job Type: Contract (3 months with potential extension) • Start Date: Immediate Bury Council is currently seeking an experienced Multiskilled Bricklayer to join our Responsive Repairs team. This role is crucial in carrying out high-quality bricklaying repairs and associated maintenance tasks across both occupied and void residential properties, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. Day-to-day of the role: • Bricklaying & Masonry Work: • Perform bricklaying, blockwork, and masonry repairs. • Repoint brickwork, chimneys, boundary walls, and structural masonry. • Repair and rebuild damaged walls, retaining walls, steps, and other brick structures. • Undertake minor groundwork and concrete reinstatement works. • Multiskilled Repairs: • Conduct plaster patching and making good repairs. • Carry out small rendering repairs and minor joinery works, including external door and frame adjustments. • Replace air bricks and improve ventilation as required. • Perform minor tiling, grouting, and basic exterior painting when required. • Unblock and repair waste systems, gutters, downpipes, paving, and gully tops. • Complete mould treatment works to reduce immediate risks. • Customer Service & Digital Working: • Efficiently complete responsive repair work orders using a tablet for job updates, notes, photograph uploads, and material ordering. • Provide professional communication and excellent customer service to tenants. • Ensure properties are left clean, tidy, and safe after work completion. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Proven experience as a Bricklayer with multiskilled repair capabilities, preferably within responsive repairs, social housing, or property maintenance environments. • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively. • Competence in using tablets and digital job management systems. • Full UK Driving Licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points and own battery-powered tools. • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements. • Excellent communication and customer service skills. Health & Safety: • Adherence to RAMS and safe working procedures. • Maintenance of asbestos awareness and safe manual handling practices. • Compliance with vehicle and fleet policies and wearing appropriate PPE at all times. • Prompt reporting of defects, hazards, and safety concerns.
